CIA Baby drone killer Petraeus quits job over moral issues.

Drone strike were these kids on Obama’s kill list?

A Little speculation here but I wonder if  the Benghazi massacre is getting a little hotter as Mr Petraeus WAS scheduled and now cancelled to speak before congress about the actions of the CIA in Libya over the CIA Death of Mr. Stevens.

Here is the most we got for the moment…

Here’s a post-election surprise no one saw coming: General David Petraeus, former head of international armed forces in Afghanistan, has resigned from his current post as director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

NBC News broke the story this afternoon , reporting that Petraeus resigned due to an “extramarital affair” that showed “extremely poor judgment.” President Obama “graciously accepted” Petraeus’ resignation, the general wrote in a letter to the CIA’s workforce.

Petraeus is also a former commander of CENTCOM, the military branch that oversees operations in the Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia.

“Yesterday afternoon, I went to the White House and asked the President to be allowed, for personal reasons, to resign from my position as D/CIA,” wrote Petraeus. “After being married for over 37 years, I showed extremely poor judgment by engaging in an extramarital affair.  Such behavior is unacceptable, both as a husband and as the leader of an organization such as ours.”

NBC News notes that “Petraeus was appointed CIA director in April 2011, replacing Leon Panetta, who moved to the Pentagon to become defense secretary.”

Petraeus recently came under fire from administration officials for his handling of the Libya attack in Benghazi which killed four Americans, including the U.S. ambassador to the country. On November 2, the Wall Street Journal published a story that “leaked a series of damaging remarks about the CIA’s handling of Benghazi [from the Obama administration],” as The Atlantic Wire notes . Included in the article was “a slew of grievances directed at CIA Director David Petraeus.”

During his tenure at the CIA, Petraeus oversaw the continued use of drone strikes by the agency. Under his control, the CIA accelerated the use of drone strikes to target suspected anti-American fighters in Pakistan. But the CIA also bombed Pakistan using what is called “signature strikes”–which means the “launching [of] strikes against terrorism suspects even when it does not know the identities of those who could be killed,” as the Washington Post puts it. Those signature strikes are likely responsible for the deaths of scores of civilians, though the exact number is not known since the Obama administration categorizes dead “militants” as “all military-age males in a strike zone.”

Before Petraeus resigned, the CIA was requesting the authority to use “signature strikes” in Yemen as well. And the Washington Post recently reported that the CIA was “urging the White House to approve a significant expansion of the agency’s fleet of armed drones, a move that would extend the spy service’s decade-long transformation into a paramilitary force.”

Petraeus Resignation About More Than Sexual Indiscretion

November 9, 2012 • 11:25PM
Repost from Lyndon LaRouche’s website.

General David Petraeus suddenly resigned this afternoon as CIA Director, issuing a brief statement that he had an extra-marital affair. The reality is that his resignation, according to at least one senior U.S. intelligence official, may well have been the result of more than sexual misconduct. Petraeus, in Lyndon LaRouche’s words, had become the “godfather” of President Obama’s drone assassination program. There is growing opposition to that policy of indiscriminate drone assassinations, and, according to the sources, that opposition caught up to Petraeus. The question is whether it will catch up with Obama in time.

According to the source, a powerful minority grouping in the intelligence community and national security establishment has been opposed to the drone program for some time, and many top veterans of the CIA were furious at Petraeus for transforming the CIA into a para-military adjunct to the military’s special operations apparatus. With Muslim Brotherhood governments already in power in Turkey, Egypt and Tunisia, and the prospects of more Brotherhood power sharing in Syria and Mali, the idea of defeating neo-Salafi terrorism with drone warfare is preposterous, the source declared. The ouster of Petraeus is part of a growing factional battle over these key policy issues. His departure could badly damage President Obama, according to the source.

The Benghazi investigation, he added, will not be suppressed. There is too much momentum and too much demand for answers. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has made clear that she will not participate in a cover-up, and has indicated that she will testify truthfully before Congress and provide any documents legitimately demanded. So far, the CIA, the Pentagon and the State Department have all provided detailed accounts of their actions in response to the attack on the Benghazi consulate on 9/11. Whether or not they have told the “whole truth” is another matter altogether. But so far, the White House has refused to provide any serious accounting of what the President knew beforehand, what he did when he learned of the Benghazi attack, and how he and Susan Rice came to spread the lies afterwards.

Ultimately, as Lyndon LaRouche has emphasized, repeatedly, the entire Anglo-Saudi apparatus must be gone after, from the top down. But Petraeus’ departure, coming just 72 hours after the conclusion of the elections, is a significant blow to that apparatus.
